Teach other concepts in electricity

This applet can also be used to teach topics later on where equations will come into play. These topics include:

1. Electrical Conductivity of different objects

Within the simulation, there is an option “Grab a bag”. This bag contains everyday items and students can use it to explore why certain items are able to conduct electricity and why some others are not.

2. Ohm's Law

When you change the Wire Resistivity, the amount of resistance will vary with the length of the wire. So to find the resistance value for any wire, read both the current and voltage and use Ohm’s Law R=V/I

3. Effective Resistance

The concept of resistance can be taught were they are given different scenarios where they must find the effective resistance within the circuit. They can use the applet to double check their answers.

4. Power

Since the only variable that can be changed in the bulbs is resistance, the students can be asked to calculate the power emitted by the bulbs by measuring the current and/or potential difference across the bulb
